Lots going on!

You can tell it's summer. There are short getaways, vacations, family visits and lots of swimming - it has been so hot!!
I've been busy trying to keep up with the quilting - but loving every minute of it. The majority of my work is edge to edge but I am all ramped up about hand guided quilting after taking a class last Friday at Hillbrook. I plan to buy a dry erase board and just practice, practice and practice. There are always occasions when an applique quilt comes my way and I have to be creative and "fill in the spaces".
Hand guided quilting is actually how I got started. I "meandered" for years but got so terribly bored that I wanted to move on to something more challenging. I find it amusing though, when people say - oh you have one of those machines that just requires you to push a button and it does the work for you. Well, it's not quite that simple and there is math involved (I am acontinually reminding myself to do the math first) to get a great finished result. But computer driven or hand guided - what better way to spend the day than "playing" with quilts. Of course, I couldn't possibly produce this many quilts of my own to quilt on the Gammill, so I am able to learn something new everyday.
Kudos to the women that digitize quilting patterns. They are certainly talented beyond my imagination. They allow me to turn your quilt into something special.
Enjoy the very best summer has to offer - remember the snowstorms of last winter. I think the first one was fun but after that - well...........
Look forward to working with you and your quilt!
Linda
