Finally Caught Up : )

I never thought that I would say that I would be happy to have nothing to quilt. Of course that will not last - but in the meantime, I've gotten the website up to speed - that takes longer than quilting a quilt : ) , and had a chance to visit some quilt shops.
I went to JoAnn's and bought 10 yds. of muslin so that I could just "play" on the machine. Taking the "belts" off of the machine and freehanding is what I am look forward to. There are occassions when quilts cross my path - applique for instance - when I need to free hand some quilting to fill in the spaces. I took a class in this last week and I have been excited about having the time to try my hand at it again. That's how I got my start - first on the Bernina and then on the Handi-Quilter. Very difficult ways to quilt unless you have a very small piece to work with.
The Gammill Statler is constantly updating; making it difficult to learn while working. So... after a quilt delivery tomorrow - that's what I plan to do. I am rather anxious to put a few more skills in my talent "box". I have also found a new thread called "Glide" that produces a beautiful stitch on both the front and back of the quilt. There are many threads that I would like to try - I truly am enjoying my job! And as you can see by the home page slideshow, I have had many beautiful quilts to work with. Of course, those beautiful quilts come with very friendly and talented people. I find great delight in meeting a quilter new to me - we usually become fast friends. How lucky am I?
To change the subject, we all survived the Braun family reunion at my younger brother in law's house on the lower Chesapeake Bay. I did bring home some new bruises - I can't help acting like a kid while there - jet skies, sail boats and motor boats not to mention ping pong - fuseball tournaments. I have not been this exhausted in quite awhile. We have so much fun, that we decided to try it again before the kids head back to school and college - some teaching - some attending. I am very lucky to have a family that knows how to laugh, play and get along incrediably well regardless of what we are doing. I am very grateful for that.
Well, I should close. I have one more computer chore to complete before I am finished for the night and then I plan to take a walk on the treadmill - sitting all day catches up with you quickly : )
