Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Don't forget about that mammogram - I already had mine! One of my customer's who works at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital - Sandie - works in the Radiology Dept. as an Imaging Clinical Coordinator. She is on the front lines of working with breast cancer patients, so every year she makes a Breast Cancer Awareness quilt for a patient raffle. All of Sandie's quilts are gorgeous, but I just couldn't get this year's raffle quilt out of my mind. I just loved it! I was surprised when Sandie told me that she got Karen Neuberger (I probably don't have the spelling right on her name) breast cancer fabric on Karen's website. I didn't even know that she designed fabric - I only know her because of her comfy pjs and gowns. Well, being one of little self control, I got on line and bought a kit with the same fabric Sandie used (the kit is much smaller) but for anyone who is interested, the kit is half price !
I'm intending to make it and donate to the Radiology Center where I always go for my mammograms. Those people are always great, friendly and understanding. It's actually a treat to see them.
While on a mission to meet Sandie at the Dulles Expo Center Sewing/Quilting show this past Saturday, I had one thing on my mind and one thing only! The Alto's QuiltCut2 Fabric Cutting System. Yes, it is a little pricey, but worth every penny! Finally a cutting mat that is mounted on a board that has clamp bar to hold the fabric. Rails for the the cutting guide to slide on and a "speed gauge" that lets you cut as quickly as you get can your rotary cutter on the board. It also has a head on the cutting guide so that you can cut fabric at just about any angle. And all this with perfectly cut fabric with very little waste! I am so happy - I'm going home to cut quilt binding tonight.
Well, off to deliver some quilts.
Happy Stitching,
Linda
