It's back on the board!

Spent all of Friday afternoon fixing my mistakes - sewing blocks together - now I just have four rows to sew to complete the body of the quilt and then a dark blue border! Should have it sewn together today - and then hopefully squeeze it in the quilt line up for a ride on the Gammill.

Yesterday, I had the best time at Hillbrook Inn in West Va. with Olga (sorry Olga but I forget how to spell your last name).  Olga teaches 8th grade Home Economics at TJ Middle School in Frederick, Md.  She is also a very active member of the Clustered Spires Quilt Quild.  Olga is difficult to describe.  Here's what comes to my mind when I think of her; adorable, enthusiastic, very curious and a talent for sharing her creative spirit with others. Does that give you a hint of what a great class she taught us yesterday?

She taught us how to use a product call "Texture Magic".  It was developed by the Superior Thread Company and can be found on their website.  As I had never used this product before, I will have to do a little investigative work to find out it's availability.  Olga opened our eyes to all of the possibilities (and I'm sure there are many more) of this amazing product.  I will talk to Olga about posting a picture or two on my blog of some the beautiful projects she is creating with Texture Magic.  It truly was a fun day - learning something new - thinking outside of the box so to speak, and meeting new friends with the same passion for fabric creations.

I did pick up some new colors of my favorite new quilting thread called Glide!  Everyone has loved the results of it on their quilt.  I especially wanted some pastels because it is has such a lovely sheen to and looks beautiful on baby quilts too.

Thanks for everyone's concern over my little tumble on the stairs at work.  I have cut down on the amount of "stuff" that I drag up and down the steps everyday and I am wearing my "sensible" shoes while quilting.  Ankle only hurts when i sit on the floor (like while I'm trying to arrange quilt blocks that have fallen off of the felt board) and twist it the wrong way.  Otherwise, I would say that I am as good as new, or as good as new as you can be at my age, might be a better way to put it : )

Halloween tonight!  Have fun....before you know it, we will be cooking those tasty turkeys.

Happy Creating - whatever it is!

Linda
